Applesauce-Fruit Cake Recipe

Lura Brown


1 c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp nutmeg
3 c flour
c mixed fruit
c chopped dates
c figs
c nuts
2 c applesauce
1 c raisins

Mix all ingredients together. Line loaf pans with paper and fill full. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Makes 5 pounds. *A pan of water in the oven keeps the tops moist.
