1 c shortening
1 ½ c sugar
2 eggs
½ tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp nutmeg
3 c flour
½ c mixed fruit
½ c chopped dates
½ c figs
½ c nuts
2 c applesauce
1 c raisins

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together. Line loaf pans with paper and fill ½ full. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Makes 5 pounds. *A pan of water in the oven keeps the tops moist.
