1-1/3 c flour
½ c shortening
½ c sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
¼ to ½ tsp almond flavoring
2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
Glace/candied cherries (do not use Maraschino Cherries)


Double:
2-2/3 c flour
1 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 ½ tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla flavoring
¾ tsp almond flavoring
4 egg yolks, slightly beaten
Glace/candied cherries

Directions:
Directions:

Sift and measure flour and set aside. Cream together shortening, sugar and salt. Add egg yolks and flavorings to this mixture and blend until creamy. Stir in flour until smooth and refrigerate dough for a few minutes. Use spoon or scoop to form balls on cookie sheet. Make slight indentation in center of each cookie and place glace cherry in it. Bake at 375 degrees until browned at edges and remove to rack to cool.
