1 pound sharp cheese, grated
1 cup finely chopped nuts
1 cup mayonnaise
1 small onion, finely grated
Black pepper
Dash cayenne pepper

Strawberry preserves, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first six ingredients seasoning to taste with both peppers. Mix well and place in a 5 to 6 cup lightly greased ring mold. Refrigerate until firm (several hours or overnight).

Unmold and serve with crackers. If desired, fill center with strawberry preserves.

This became famous when Jimmy Carter was governor of Georgia and then President. Rosalyn shared this with many groups when asked for a favorite recipe.

I was fortunate to meet the Carters on a visit to their home in Plains when I worked on "Gardens of Georgia" for the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. and when my garden club made arrangements at the Carter Center for the Democratic Convention in Atlanta.
