2 large onions, diced, separated
1 1/2 pounds hamburger
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons allspice
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons cumin
1 1/2 teaspoons red pepper (cayenne)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 15-ounce can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 16-ounce package spaghetti (broken in half)
3 15 1/2-ounce cans red kidney beans, drained
finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Over high heat in 12-inch skillet, cook ground beef, garlic, and half of onion. Drain.

Meanwhile, mix spices in a small bowl.

Stir spices into meat mixture, cook 1 minute. Stir in tomato sauce, Worcestershire, vinegar, 1/2 cup water, and drained kidney beans. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 1 hour.

Serve over cooked spaghetti. Top with diced onions and shredded cheese.

The original recipe actually calls for 1 teaspoon for the spices (except chili powder). I normally double them but put 1 1/2 teaspoons above as that's more "normal." My kids cut the hot with ketchup. Sounds awful, but Erich loves it that way. This is his favorite meal. But he'd rather just eat spaghetti and ketchup if I'd let him.
