4 cups (about 3-4 med) apples, peeled and thinly sliced
3 Tablespoon apple juice

Crumb Mixture:

2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup rolled oats
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter flavored shortening
1 Tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven 375. Toss apples with apple juice. Spray 8 inch square glass baking dish with no-stick spray. Spoon apples into prepared dish.

For crumb mixture, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening until course crumbs form. Combine milk and vanilla. Drizzle over crumbs while tossing with fork. Sprinkle over apples.

Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes or until fruit is tender, center is bubbly and crumbs are browned. Serve warm with cream, whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.

Tip
Peach or Pear Crisp: Follow above recipe using peaches or pears and substituting 1 table lemon juice for the apple juice.

Or

Blueberry Crisp: Follow above recipe using 3 cups blueberries and substituting 1 tablespoon lemon juice for the apple juice.
