1/3 cup shortening
1 3/4 c. flour sifted
3/4 c. milk
2 1/2 T. baking powder
1 egg
2 T. sugar
frg. (?) salt_ not sure what this means
12 T. jelly

!. Set oven at 400º.
2. Sift flour and measure into bowl, add baking soda powder, sugar, and salt.
3. Melt shortening.
4. Beat egg in bowl, add milk and shortening.
5. Make a hollow in the flour mixture, add milk mixture. Stir only until dry mixture is wet.
6. Fill cups half full, add 1 T. jelly to each and cover with the rest of the mixture.7. Bake about 25 minutes.
