25 medium sized pickles soaked in brine
1 pt of salt to 1 gallon of water

Directions:
Directions:
Let pickles stand in salt water solution for 5 days. Then rinse and put in alum water. 1 tablespoon of alum in enough water to cover pickles. Change and put new alum water on pickles for 3 days. Rinse then make sugar syrup.
1 qt vinegar
8 C. sugar
little cloves 8-9
1/4 tsp. celery seed
stick of cinnamon.
add 1/2 sugar the first day then 1 cup each time you reheat the syrup
