2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. (1 cube) margarine, softened
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour, salt, and soda. Set aside. Beat margarine, shortening and sugars with a mixer until creamy. Beat in eggs. Add vanilla. Gradually add flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 to 11 minutes.

This is the original Toll House recipe with two changes: the butter has been replaced by half margarine and half shortening, and the dough is mixed with a mixer.
