Ingredients:	Ingredients: 2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. chopped nuts 2 c. apples, sliced thin 2 eggs 3/4 c. Crisco oil 1 tsp. vanilla Lemon Sauce: 1/2 c. sugar 1 T. cornstarch dash of salt dash of nutmeg 1 c. water 2 T. butter 1 1/2 T. lemon juice

Directions:	Directions: Sift dry ingredients together, then fold in nuts. Add apples. In a small bowl beat the 2 eggs and add the oil and vanilla. Beat until foamy. Add to apple mixture and stir until combined. Place batter in a greased and floured 8x8 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Serve with lemon sauce. To prepare lemon sauce place the first 5 ingredients in a saucepan and cook over low heat until thick and clear. Remove from heat and stir in butter and lemon juice. Blend throughly. Serve over warm apple cake. Makes 1 1/3 c. sauce.
