4 eggs
1 1/4 Cups sugar
1 lemon rind, grated
3 ounces chocolate, melted
2 1/2 C sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 C milk

Filling
1 C butter, softened
3/4 C powdered sugar
1/4 C Dutch cocoa

Frosting
1 1/2 C whipping cream
1/2 C sugar
1 tsp vanilla
chocolate curls

Directions:
Directions:
Beat together eggs, sugar, and shortening until light and fluffy. blend in lemon rind and chocolate. Sift together flour, salt, and soda. Add flour mixture and milk alternately to creamed mixture. Mix well, then pour into two greased, 9 inch round cake pans. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool layers on wire racks.

Filling: Cream butter and sugar. Blend in cocoa. Spread in between cooled cake layers.

Frosting: Beat whipping cream until foamy; add sugar and vanilla. Beat until stiff peaks are formed. Frost cake with mixture and decorate with chocolate curls.
