3 pkgs. dry fast rise yeast
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. salt
1 heaping tbsp. ground cardamom or seeds
1/2 cup crisco
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup white raisins
2 cups fruit cake mix
1/2 cup brandy
6-7 cups flour

Soak raisins and fruit cake mix in brandy overnight. Heat liquids, add beaten eggs. Combine yeast, sugar, salt, cardomom and 1/2 cup flour. Add to liquid beating well. Add remainder of flour and mix until a soft dough. Pour onto floured cloth. Let rest 10 minutes and knead until elastic. Let rise until doubled in bulk in greased bowl in oven (heat until lowest temp and turn off). Punch down. Put into 4 greased loaf pans and let rise again. Bake in 375º oven for 20-25 minutes. When cool frost with powdered sugar frosting. For frosting...Combine 1 box of powdered sugar with 2 tbsp. soft butter. Cream and add 1 tsp. almond extract until spreadable. Decorate with candied cherries and almonds.
