1 C honey
1 C brown sugar
6 drops of anise flavoring
1 tsp crushed anise seed
3 C flour
1 T. butter, softened
1/2 C cold water
1/2 C milk
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix honey and sugar. Add anise flavoring and seeds. Add flour alternately with butter, water, and milk. Dissolve soda in hot water, add to dough, and blend well. Pour into two greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pans and bake at 350º for 50 to 60 minutes or until done.

Instead of anise flavorings, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1/3 tsp ground cloves, and 1/3 tsp nutmeg can be substituted.
