3/4 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
12 drops yellow food coloring
1 egg
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 c. flour
3 to 4 different colored decorative sugars
About 3 dozen chocolate covered candies, mints or decor sprinkles

In a large bowl using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat butter, sugar, vanilla, yellow food color, egg and cream cheese. Stir in flour on low speed. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours or until firm.
Preheat oven to 375. Shape dough into 1 1/4 in. balls, roll in decorative sugar and place about 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Make 3 cuts with scissors in top of each ball (going about 3/4 through dough) to make 6 wedges.
Spread wedges slightly apart to form flower petals; cookies will flatten as they bake. Bake 10 - 12 min. or until set and edges begin to brown. Immediately press 1 candy in center of each cookie.
