2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 C (1 stick) butter or margarine,slightly softened
1/2 C vegetable shortening/oil or crisco
1/2 C granulated sugar
3/4 C packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg (or 2 egg whites)
12 oz. semi-sweet Chocolate chunks
1/2 chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º. In a small bowl combine flour, soda and
salt. In large bowl combine butter(sliced down and added a few
pieces at a time), shortening, sugars and vanilla; beat until
creamy. Beat in egg. Gradually add flour mixture. Stir in
Chocolate chunks and nuts with a wooden spoon. Drop by
rounded teaspoons or small cookie scoop onto greased cookie
sheet. Bake 8 to 10 mins.

If cookies are spreading thin when baking, sprinkle with small
