For the cakes, mix in the order given in a large mixing bowl:

1 cup margarine
2 cups sugar
2 eggs (whole)
2 egg yolks


Mix together before adding to mixture:
1 cup sour milk **
1 tsp. baking powder
4½ cup flour
1 cup cocoa
½ tsp. salt
1 cup hot water



Filling: Beat these ingredients until fluffy.
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
¼ cup flour
¼ cup milk
1½ cup Crisco shortening
4 cups 10X powdered sugar

Directions:

Drop generous teaspoonful on a greased baking sheet (about 2 inches apart) and bake at 350° for approximately 15 minutes. Cool before filling.

For filling: Place filling between two similarly shaped cakes, sandwich style. Wrap individually in Saran Wrap or sandwich bags.

**To make sour milk, measure 1 T. vinegar in a 1 cup measuring cup, then fill with milk) and 1 tsp. baking soda

Makes about 2-3 dozen pies, depending on size.
