2-3 T. bacon drippings
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. ground lamb
1 ¼ cup canned tomatoes (or 2, 30oz cans)
3-4 cups canned kidney beans
¾ tsp salt
½ bay leaf
1 tsp. sugar
¼ cup dry red wine
2 tsp-2 T. chili powder

Melt the bacon drippings. Sauté the ground beed and ground lamb in the fat. Stir & sauté the meat until well done. Then add the canned tomatoes, kidney beans, salt, bay leaf, sugar, red wine, and chili powder.

Cover and simmer about 1 hour or longer. The longer it cooks, the thicker it becomes & the better it tastes.

Serve with the following garnishes:
Corn tortilla chips, chopped sweet onion, shredded sharp cheddar, sour cream, sliced olives, tabasco.

Serves 8-12.
