1 1/2 c. powdered sugar, sifted
1 c. (2 cubes) margarine
1 egg
1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tarter

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and margarine (and butter, if using; see variation note). Add egg and flavorings. Stir in dry ingredients. Refrigerate 2 hours. Roll out onto floured pastry cloth or mat. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 minutes, or until very lightly browned on the edges. Frost cookies when cool, or freeze at this point and frost later.

Variation: Use 1/2 c. (1 cube) margarine and 1/2 c. (1 cube) butter in place of the 1 c. of margarine.
