Kingfish or cod steaks
6 cloves garlic, chopped
Salt
½ inch ginger root, chopped (optional)
½ tsp chili powder
2 ½ tsp cumin powder, divided
¼ tsp turmeric powder
6 tomatoes, chopped or
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 (14 oz ) can diced tomatoes
3 onions, chopped
¼ tsp garam masala
2 green chilies, chopped (optional

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and dry the fish. Marinate fish with salt, turmeric and chili powder for ½ hour. Heat 2 tbsp oil over medium heat and when hot put in the onion, garlic, and ginger root. Saute until the onions are light brown. Add cumin and green chilies. Stir and add the tomatoes (include liquid of canned tomatoes) and the garam masala. Boil and simmer covered for 15 minutes on low. Pre heat over to 350. Heat a little more oil in non stick pan and when hot put in the fish. Brown on both sides. Put fish into baking dish and pour tomato sauce over. Bake uncovered for 15 minutes or until the fish are cooked.
