1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling)
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ginger
1 c. raisins
1 c. nuts, chopped

Lemon Frosting:
2 c. powdered sugar
1 T. lemon juice
1 T. grated lemon peel
canned (evapotated) milk to thin for consistency

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs and pumpkin. Mix well. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and spices. Add to pumpkin mixture and mix well. Fold in raisins and nuts. Drop by heaping teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for approx. 15 minutes, or until firm to the touch. When cool frost with lemon frosting. To prepare lemon frosting combine the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon peel. Add just enough canned milk to create a thick spreading consistency.
