1 cup boiling water
5 tsp baking soda
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
5 cups flour
1 qt buttermilk
1 tsp salt
4 cups Allbran cereal
2 cups 40% bran Flakes cereal
2 cups chopped walnuts/ and or raisins- Optional

Directions:
Directions:
Mix 1 cup boiling water and soda. Set aside to cool.
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Sir in buttermilk, flour salt and soda mixture. Add cereals and nuts and raisin if desired. Keep coverd in fridge and DO NOT STIR AGAIN! Keeps for six weeks in the fridge. When ready to bake, spoon into muffin tins. Bake at 375 for 20 min.

These are sooo great! I love that I can have warm muffins in the morning with no work. We don't like the nuts and raisins and they are still wonderful without them.
