1 T. olive oil
1 med. onion thinly sliced
1 carrot peeled and sliced in ¼ inch discs
2 cloves garlic, crushed
½ t. dried basil
3 oz. ham, diced ¼ inch
½ c. canned tomatoes, drained and crushed
3 c. chicken broth
1 c. red kidney beans.
2 ½ oz shell or rotelli pasta
Salt and pepper
Grated parmesan cheese

Cook onion and carrots in oil until soft. Add garlic, basil, and ham and cook for 2 min more. Add tomatoes, drained and crushed and cook 5 more min. Add chicken broth and beans. Smash some beans to thicken. Boil 20 min. add pasta and cook till al dente.
