2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. water
3 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
6 tbsp. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Put sugar, cornstarch and water in a saucepan and cook over medium heat, mixing constantly until thick and clear. Cool. Beat egg whites with salt and vanilla until soft mounds form. Add sugar gradually. Add cornstarch mixture and continue beating until meringue stands in peaks. Cover pie with meringue and bake at 350º for 12-15 minutes until golden brown, or for 8-10 minutes at 400º.
