1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2-oz melted unsweetened chocolate (cool)
1/3 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp soda
2 cups salted peanuts
Chocolate icing (recipe below)

Directions:

Mix butter, sugar, egg, chocolate, buttermilk and vanilla thoroughly. Stir in flour, soda and peanuts. If dough is soft, cover and chill. Heat oven to 400º. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 2" apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 - 10 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when touched with finger. Immediately remove from baking sheet. While warm, frost with chocolate icing. Makes 4 dozen.
CHOCOLATE ICING: Melt 2 squares (1 oz each) unsweetened chocolate and 2 tbsp butter or margarine over low heat. Remove from heat; stir in 3 tbsp water and about 2 cups confectioners' sugar until smooth.
