3 C self-rising flour
3 T sugar
1 12oz beer
1/2 C butter, melted

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar and the beer. Blend mixture together using a wooden spoon, the batter will be lumpy. Place the dough in a greased loaf pan and pour 1/3 of the butter over the dough. Bake the bread for 40 min, then pour 1/3 of the butte over the top of the bread. Continue baking for 10 min more. Pour the last 1/3 of the butter on the bread and bake for 10 min longer.

Try adding bacon, cheese and green onions to this batter before baking or make up a combination of herbs/spices etc. This recipe is from The Mix cookbook, the flour and th esugar can be mixed in advance and given as a gift.
