2 c sugar
1/2 t salt
1 c semi-soft butter
4 eggs, separated
3/4 t orange extract
1 t vanilla
3 c cake flour
2 1/4 t baking powder
1 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, butter and salt thoroughly in large mixing bowl. Beat eggs yolks into creamed mixture, one at a time, until light and fluffy. Add extracts.

Sift together flour and baking powder. Add part of flour mixture, alternately with milk, to creamed mixture, blending well after each addition.

Beat egg whites at highest speed until stiff but not dry. Gently fold whites into batter.

Turn batter into 3 greased and floured 9" round cake pans. Bake in 350º oven for about 35 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Turn layers out on cooling rack.

If 3 pans are not available, use 2 and bake layers for 40 to 50 minutes.

Cool completely and frost as desired.
