1 c. lard or butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda in 1/3 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking powder
2 c. brown sugar
pinch of salt
4 c. flour

FILLING:
1 pkg. dates, cut up
1 c. sugar
1 s. water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cookie dough together and cool.

In sauce pan bring the dates, sugar and water to a boil and cook until thick.

Roll out cookie dough and cut into rounds. Place 1 tsp. date filling in center of one and cover with another cookie round. Press edges to seal.

Bake in a 350º for 12 min. or until brown. Don't bake too dark.
