1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
3 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar; add egg and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla extract; mix thoroughly. Roll 1/8" thick on lightly floured surface. Cut with floured cookie cutter; sprinkle with sugar, if desired. Bake on greased cookie sheet in moderate oven (375º) about 15 minutes. These may be decorated before baking. Makes 3 dozen.
