5 eggs
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 9-inch unbaked pie crust

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º.

Beat eggs until fluffy. Add sugar and beat well. Add melted butter, evaporated milk, water, and vanilla extract. Add salt just before pouring mixture into pie shell. Sprinkle with nutmeg.

Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350º and bake another 15 minutes.

Merle brought this pie for dessert the first time Leroy and Billie Mae visited Memphis after he and Janis started dating. Leroy and Billie Mae were impressed!
