2 C sugar
1/2 C hot water
1/2 C white karo syrup
dash salt

2 egg whites beaten stiff

1/2 t vanilla

1/4 to 1/2 C powder sugar
Directions:
Directions:
Mix together sugar, water, syrup and salt, cook this mixture to the thread stage.

Beat egg white while cooking sugar mixture.

When the sugar mixture is at the thread stage, remove from heat and let the boiling stop, then pour the hot mixture into the egg whites beating while pouring. Beat until stiff and cool. Add vanilla.

You can add powdered sugar if necessary.
