2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp water
1 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp cream of tarter
2 egg whites, room temperature

Directions:

Blend all ingredients. Beat on high 1 minute. Add coloring, if desired. Spread on cooled cut out cookies using clean 1/2 inch paint brush or basting brush. It is best to have a different brush for each color. Will dry to a hard surface. Can be stored in covered container in refrigerator for months.

One of my favorite childhood activities was decorating cookies. I kept up the tradition until Carrie and Anna were in college. I have used this frosting for years as it makes it easy for all ages to coat a cookie without breaking it.
