Notes: Wash the roast, pat dry and place in dutch oven. Chop the onions and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Allow the roast to cook long enough to produce a scortching on both sides of the roast. Once the sides are brown, pour in a cup of water. Cook for 30 minutes. Next, dump in the sliced mushrooms and the Lipton soup mix. Cook slowly until the meat is tender. Check by inserting a fork in the meat. If it slides in ... its tender. To make gravy from the drippings, simply remove the meat and mix a small amount of flour to enough water to create a white paste. Pour the paste into the drippings and simmer for a few minutes until the drippings are a gravy texture. Place the roast back into the pot and simmer just before serving. This is great with fresh vegetables and/with brown or white rice. The gravy makes good rice and gravy. Note: If any of the roast is left over; freeze it to use as the base for homemade soup!!! Yes, if you have any left.
