1 c dates, cut up 1 c hot water
1 tsp baking soda 1 c sugar
1/2 c margarine 2 eggs
1 1/2 c flour 1 tsp baking powder
1/2 c nuts

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine dates, water and baking soda. Allow to cool.
2. Cream sugar and margarine and add eggs. Mix well. Add dry ingredients alternately with date mixture. Pour into 2 8" greased cake pans. Bake at 350º 25-30 min.
3. Fill layers with custard and frost with caramel or butterscotch frosting.
