1/2 cup sugar
3 T. melted butter
small pinch of salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup currants
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder

Lemon Sauce: 1 cup sugar
2 cups of water
3 tsp (rounding) of cornstarch
1 T butter
1/4 tsp lemon extracts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the sugar, butter, salt, eggs, milk, currants, flour, & baking powder together. Place in angel food or bundt pan and steam in overn 1 hr. to 1 1/2 hrs.(Place pan in large kettle of hot water)
Serve with Lemon Sauce. Let sugar & water come to a boil. Add cornstarch in a little cold water. Then stir into boiling syrup. Let come t a boil and then add the butter & lemon extract.

I think this is an old family recipe. My mothers were great but I never had too good luck with it. Also hard to find any currants.
