1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy
1/2 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º F. Mix butter, sugar, egg, and flavoring thoroughly. Add flour and salt, Mix well. Shape dough into a disk and wrap with plastic wrap; chill for atleast 2 hours or until easy to handle. devide dough in half and color one half with a 1/2 tsp. red food coloring. Roll each color into strips, place side by side, press together lightly and twist like a rope. curve into shape of a candy cane. Bake 9 min . While still warm, remove from pan and sprinkle with candy and sugar mixture.
