*This is a wonderful recipe given to me by Scott Kleinecht, a former substitute rural carrier at Colonial Beach Post Office.

3 C flour
1 tsp. salt
10 tbs. butter softened
3/4 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla

TOPPING:
1/2 lb butter
1/2 cup honey or Karo syrup
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 cup heavy cream
4 cups pecans, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
For crust:
Combine flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl, mix well.
Beat butter and shortening together with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth.
Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy
Beat in eggs and vanilla
Reduce speed and add flour mixture until just combined
Gather dough into a ball and flatten slightly
Press the dough into a butter 10x15x3/4' non stick baking dish.
Refrigerate overnight or place in freezer for 30 minutes
Preheat oven to 375º
Prick crust all over and bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes
Set aside to cool.
TOPPING:
Combine butter, honey, white and brown sugar in a sauce pan
Simmer, stirring constantly over medium heat until sugars melt and mixture darkens and foams (about 5 minutes)
Remove from heat
Whisk in cream and stir in chopped pecans
Spread filling evenly over crust and bake until bubbly (about 15 min.)
Let cool and cut into small squares
