4 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups shortening
3 eggs
1 large can (29 oz.) pumpkin
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp. nutmeg
7 1/2 cups flour (I use half wheat flour and half all-purpose)
2 1/2 cups chocolate chips
nuts and/ or raisins optional

Mix all ingredients in order given. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 12 min.

I got this recipe from Brian's mom. It is one of our favorites--we make these cookies all the time. I really made them a lot when I had braces because they are so soft!
