1 unbaked pie shell
5 large or 6 med Granny Smith or Braeburn apples,
peeled and sliced
1/2 c. sugar X 2
1/2 c. + 2 T. flour
1/2 t. nutmeg
several shakes of cinnamon (to your taste)
1 stick butter (softened)

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and slice apples. Combine 1/2 c. sugar, 2 T. flour, 1/2 c. nutmeg and cinnamon. Stir into apples. Pour apple mixture into shell and pat down a bit. Stir together 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. flour and stick of butter. Spread and pat over apples. Place the pie in a paper grocery bag and staple shut. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 425º for one hour. (Make sure bag isn't touching element in top of the oven.) Split bag open and cool.
