2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. chopped onion
2 tbsp. chopped green peppers
1 c. tomato sauce
1 c. kidney beans
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. chili powder

Melt shortening in pan, and cook onion, peppers, and ground
beef until meat is light brown.
Transfer to kettle, add tomato sauce and cook over low heat for
5 min. Add kidney beans and salt; heat.
Stir in chili powder; taste and add more if needed.
Simmer on low heat until mealtime.
