5 c. country-style bread cubed
1 stick butter melted
1 can 14 oz. whole tomatoes in juice
2/3 c. water
2/3 c. light brown sugar
1 T. tomato paste
3/4 t. salt
1/2 t. hot pepper sauce or Tabasco(optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Put oven rack in middle and set oven to 400 degrees.

Toss bread cubes with butter in 9x13 dish until coated.

Puree tomatoes with juice in blender 5 seconds, then transfer to saucepan with water, brown sugar, tomato paste, salt and hot sauce. Bring to simmer and then pour over bread, stirring to combine. Bake
uncovered until edges begin to carmelize, 35-40 min.
