1 1/2 C. HOT WATER
11/2 C. DATES CHOPPED
2 t. SODA
1 CUP SUGAR
1 t. SALT
1 T. BUTTER MELTED
1 EGG
1 t. vanilla
1 c. chopped walnuts
2 3/4 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Pour the hot water over the dates and let stand until cool
Sift flour and soda together, add sugar and salt , stir in the cooled dates and water. Add the melted butter,
beaten egg, vanilla and walnuts. MIX WELL. Pour into
prepared greased pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hr. or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 min. and then remove to wire rack.

*Can use brown sugar and add 1 T. white syrup or
