½ c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 large egg (beaten)
½ c. to 1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
1½ c. flour
½ tsp. soda
¼ tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the shortening; add sugar, egg, and then the rest of the ingredients. Mix well and make into 2 rolls (about 1½"). Wrap rolls in waxed aper and chill overnght in refrigerator. Slice into about ¼ rounds and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes.

These are white when done. If they get brown, they are hard. Makes about 4 to 5 dozen.
