1 large onion chopped fine
1-1/2 pounds chopped okra
4 or 5 home-grown tomatoes, peeled, then chopped
1 lb bacon
2 dashes of tobasco

Directions:
Directions:
Fry bacon and set aside. Leave some bacon grease in the skillet. Saute the onion and the okra in the bacon grease and add salt & pepper.

Crumble bacon and add to the okra. Add chopped tomatoes. Add water to create soup consistency. Dad says, "Not too much liquid, but enough to serve over rice."

Add 2 dashes tobasco. Simmer covered for 35 to 40 inutes in a fairly deep skillet. Watch consistency!

Dad says this is a great summer dish in that it is really best when prepared with fresh tomatoes from the garden. Occasionally mom adds sweet corn which is scraped off the ear along with the corn milk.
