1 package dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup shortening
3 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, stir and reserve. Mix flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut shortening into flour mixture in large bowl until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in yeast mixture and buttermilk until mixture forms into dough, and leaves the sides. Form into a ball. Knead on floured surface for about 1 minute. Let rise 10 minutes. Grease the outside of 6 custard cups. Place cups upside down on ungreased cookie sheet, divide dough into 6 equal parts. Pat dough into round circle over custard cups. Do not allow dough to curl under. bake 18-22 minutes until golden brown. Cool upright on wire rack.
