1/2 c butter or margarine
1 c sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
1/2 c unsweetened cocoa
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp soda

Frosting:

1 c semi sweet chocolate or mint chocolate pieces
1/2 c sweetened condensed milk
1/4 tsp salt
1 to 1 1/2 tsp marachino cherry juice

Directions:
Directions:
In large mixing bowl cream butter, sugar, egg and vanila until light & fluffy. Add remaining ingredients; blend at low speed until a dough forms (about 1 min doughwill be stiff).

Shape chocolate dough into 1 inch balls using a heaping teaspoon of dough for each. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Push one marachino cherry halfway in each ball. When all cookies are molded and cherries are pushed in, prepare frosting and use immediately. Frot each cherry by spreading 1/2 tsp of frosting over cherry.

Frosting: in a small heavy pan over low heat, melt chocolate pieces with condensed milk, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients and stir until smooth.

Bake frosted cookies in a preheated 350º oven for 9 - 10 minutes.
