2 qts cider vinegar
9 cups sugar
1 T salt
1 tsp whole cloves, celery seed and pickling spice.

Slice 7 lbs of cucumbers, soak 24 hrs in 2 cups of lime and 2 gallons of water. Rinse, soak 3 hrs in clear water. Soak 2 hrs in "solution".

Heat and bring to a boil; boil 35 minutes add 1 cup raisins and boil an additional 5 minutes. Seal while hot.

Maxine tells the story that she had asked Fred, her husband to though the crock with the brine over the fence. Instead he picked up the wrong crock and threw all the pickles over the fence.
