1 cup Sweet cider
16 cups Apples, cooked
8 cups Sugar
4 tsp cinnamon
dash of nutmeg

Directions:

Mix all together and cook, stirring constantly until mixture us very smooth and thick enough to spread. Pour immediately into hot sterilized jars and seal at once.

From Jo Ann in the Nov. 6, 1996 Wright Lite: This recipe is a copy of a page from Mother's old cookbook. You remember the one, the white one she used so much. Amy asked me the other day for an apple butter recipe. In my searching I came across this and thought you might all enjoy it. Looking through her cookbook sure brought back the aroma that would fill the house when Mother baked or cooked. There is nothing like coming home from school to the smell of homemade bread.
