1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. instant dry milk
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. shortening, melted
1 apple, peeled and finely chopped
1 egg
1 c. water

Topping:
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, dry milk, and cinnamon. Add the shortening, apple, water, and egg to dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Spoon batter into 12 greased muffin cups. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle on top of batter. Bake until lightly browned at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
