2 c. flour,
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda,
1 c. cold water
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. mayonaise or mayonaise type salad dressing

Directions:
Combine all ingredients, beat til smooth. That's all there is to it!. Bake as cupcakes, or two layer cake, or square cake pan. If tube pan is used, double the recipe. Bake at 350º oven until done. (toothpick inserted comes out clean).

Frost if desired or sprinkle with confectionery sugar.

This is a favorite. Quick, moist, travels well, and is yummy. The variations are just as delicious..
Variations :
Applesauce Cake--omit cocoa, vanilla, cup of water. Add 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. cloves, 1/2 c. raisins, 1/4 c. cold water, and 1 c. canned applesauce.
Banana Cake--Omit cocoa, cup of water. Add 1 cup of mashed bananas and 1/4 c. water.
Mocha Cake--Omit 1 c. of water. Add 1 cup very strong cold coffee.
Spice Cake--Omit coca, vanilla, cup of water. Add 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 3/4 tsp. cloves, 1/2 tsp. ginger, 3/4 tsp. nutmeg, 1/4 c. molasses, 3/4 cup cold water.
