6 or 7 slices of bread (crusts removed)
1 package diced ham
2 packages (8 oz. each) cheddar cheese
1 dozen eggs
2 cups milk
1/4 cup melted butter (to use right before baking)
salt & pepper to taste

Sauce (enough for 2 pans):
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 c. sour cream
Heat and stir; do not boil. Serve over squares of eggbake.

Fit bread into the bottom of a greased 9x13 pan. Layer ham and cheese in pan. In a large bowl, combine eggs, milk, salt & pepper. Pour over the bread mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
To bake, heat oven to 375º. Just before baking, pour melted butter over the layers in the pan. Bake uncovered about 40 minutes.

This dish can also be frozen for later use after the overnight refrigeration. To prepare from frozen, let the dish thaw overnight in the refrigerator before baking.
