1/2 cup almond slivers
3 tbsp. sugar
1/2 lb. fresh spinach
1 red onion, sliced & separated into rings
11 oz can mandarin oranges, drained

Dressing:
1 1/4 cup salad oil
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. cider vinegar
dash red pepper sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all dressing ingredients and chill. In small skillet, over medium heat, cook almonds and sugar, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved and almonds are brown and coated. Watch carefully as they will burn easily. On waxed paper, cool and break apart. Store in air-tight container. Wash spinach well to remove stems. Combine spinach, onion rings, oranges and almonds. Toss with dressing.
